Weekly recap for #Gold and #Silver: The precious metals market finished the week with a familiar theme: geopolitics and energy prices remained firmly in the driver's seat.

Semaine du 24 juil. 2026

Despite a stronger U.S. dollar and significantly higher crude oil prices throughout much of the week—conditions that would typically weigh on precious metals, gold managed to finish slightly higher, demonstrating continued underlying resilience. Silver also held up reasonably well despite heightened volatility.

One of the more interesting developments was that gold rallied for two consecutive sessions even as crude oil continued to climb, suggesting that safe-haven demand was offsetting the traditional headwinds from rising energy prices, higher interest rates, and a stronger dollar. That resilience was tested yesterday as crude oil staged another sharp rally, triggering broad profit-taking across the precious metals complex and pushing both gold and silver lower. Today, however, with crude prices pulling back, both metals recovered modestly and finished the week on firmer footing.

My view remains unchanged. Markets driven by geopolitical events are notoriously headline-dependent, producing sharp intraday swings and frequent reversals. Until there is a durable and credible resolution to tensions in the Middle East, I expect gold and silver to remain highly sensitive to every new development.

Rather than trying to anticipate every headline, I continue to believe patience and discipline are the best strategy. Allow the market to reveal its direction. While short-term volatility is likely to persist, I believe the longer-term fundamentals supporting precious metals, including central bank buying, continued geopolitical uncertainty, and investor under-allocation to the sector remain firmly intact.

As always, stay informed, stay disciplined, and avoid making emotional decisions during periods of heightened uncertainty. Knowledge remains one of the best investments you can make.
