Gold and Silver Get a Strong Bid today!

Gold and silver staged an impressive rally today. Crude oil declined again on continued optimism surrounding developments in the Strait of Hormuz, while the U.S. dollar weakened and equity markets moved higher. Against that backdrop, gold rallied approximately $160 (3.9%) and silver gained $2.12 (3.5%), reflecting broad-based strength across the precious metals complex.

While we still need a more durable and credible resolution to the Iran crisis, the recent price action suggests that gold and silver have been spending the past several weeks consolidating before attempting to work their way higher. Markets rarely move in a straight line, and periods of consolidation often help establish a stronger foundation for the next move.
